Strings
We sell strings separately. Most people replace all the strings on their harp every few years, because the tone deteriorates as the strings get older. Then you have to buy a full set. Strings also break from time to time (sometimes it feels like all the time...) and you can buy single strings from us if you need them. Strings come in different lengths and thicknesses, so when you buy a harp from us we provide you with a string chart which will help you see which string you need to order. Prices for the single nylon strings vary considerably, so ask for the price when you order.
The top-most strings on a nylon-strung harp are quite cheap to replace, but break more easily. The lower wound strings on the bigger harp models are made up of a core of metall or nylon with an outer sheath of wire or nylon - complicated to make and, not surprisingly, more expensive to buy. These thick wire strings tend not to break so often, but it is a good thing to change them every year or two as the tone dulls when they get older and dirtier!
It isn't only on the harp that strings age, but even on the shelf! For this reason, rather than risk selling you old strings that have been hanging around for a while, we like to get in the more expensive strings when you order them.
It takes us 7 - 10 days to deliver full sets of strings and about 2 days for single strings. Please note that the wire strings for Brage are only sold as full sets.
